About StepUp Tutoring
StepUp Tutoring was created to give students calm, expert support in the subjects and exams that matter most, delivered by handpicked tutors from leading UK universities.
Our approach
Student-centred teaching
We start with where your child is now – their strengths, gaps and goals – and build a plan around them. Every lesson is tailored, not copied from a textbook.
Experienced, specialist tutors
Our tutors are carefully selected from top Russell Group universities, DBS-checked and trained to teach specific year groups, subjects and exams with clarity and patience.
Progress you can see
We focus on clear explanations, structured practice and regular feedback so you can see real improvements in confidence, grades and exam readiness.
Meet Morgan, founder of StepUp Tutoring
StepUp Tutoring is led by Morgan Ambrose, an Economics and Politics graduate who has been tutoring since the age of 16. Morgan began by teaching in local tuition centres, gaining experience with a wide range of students, abilities and school backgrounds.
While studying for his Economics and Politics degree, Morgan continued tutoring online, helping pupils prepare for SATs, 11+ and 13+ entrance exams, GCSEs and A-Levels. Working with so many families highlighted what really makes a difference: personalised teaching, calm encouragement and a clear plan.
StepUp Tutoring was created to bring all of this together – combining Morgan’s years of tutoring experience with a small team of specialist tutors to offer a service that is structured, supportive and genuinely impactful for students and parents.
Our tutors
Every StepUp tutor is experienced, DBS-checked and handpicked from top Russell Group universities. Each specialises in particular subjects and exam levels, so your child is always learning with someone who truly knows their area.
Michael · Maths specialist
KS2 · KS3 · GCSE Maths
Michael is an Economics student at the University of Warwick who specialises in building strong numerical foundations and exam technique. He’s particularly experienced at helping students who feel “behind” in Maths regain confidence and move steadily up their grade boundaries.
Olivia · Exams & entry tests
KS2 SATs · 11+ · 13+ · GCSE strategy
Olivia studies at the London School of Economics (LSE) and focuses on entrance exams and assessment strategy. She supports pupils with Verbal and Non-Verbal Reasoning, timing, question breakdown and smart revision plans so they walk into exams feeling prepared rather than overwhelmed.
Sean · Humanities & English
KS3 · GCSE English & Humanities
Sean is a Politics student at the University of Warwick who helps students develop strong reading, writing and analytical skills. He’s great at turning vague ideas into clear, well-structured answers and helping learners understand what examiners are really looking for.
We regularly add to our team as we meet outstanding tutors who share our values. If your child needs support in a particular subject or exam not listed here, please get in touch – there is a high chance we have (or can source) a specialist tutor to help.
